Inching Closer To That Midnight Hour

They say “Who knows what the future holds.” But what we can tell from current events that are playing out around the world today is a dawn of a new age has arrived. Whether that is a good thing or bad remains to be seen. But, one thing is for certain we had better clean up our act as a human race before it really is too late for saving mankind and our planet.

The simplicity of life of over a half century ago has been erased by the complexity of one’s existence today. No longer are there boyhood dreams of sand lot baseball where parks were filled with catching fly balls. Now, too many of our youth are attached to earphones of their I-pads or smartphones. The gaiety of boys chasing girls has long since replaced by more adult tones. The innocence of a bye-gone era is no more. No, we can’t blame this coronavirus on that. But, as our society shifted away from the balance we had those 60 years ago so did the complexity of life today.

When I was young sure life had it’s moments. But, those times were the ones that forged lasting memories. I look back with great fondness though my focus now is to just make it through one more day. The troubles of the world have caught up. The only refuge is in the solitude of ones existence today. No where to run and so few places to hide from this scourge, this Pandemic.

What the world will look like when this Pandemic blows over, nobody knows for sure. But, one thing is for certain maybe the Georgia Guide Stones predictions might hold some truths. A harsh reality that will soon set in awaits all of humanity. And, so the Doomsday Clock is inching closer to that midnight hour. There are ways to turn that clock back. And, yet too much of man’s focus lies in materialistic gains acting out of pure impulse never questioning or analogizing the consequences of their actions.

So now we are facing the years ahead in a more somber, ominous tone. If we fail to learn anything form this coronavirus pandemic just maybe the next one the bells will toll at the midnight hour sending the world into a cataclysm of one catastrophe after another. There will be no place to hide and nowhere to run to escape the unimaginable horror that awaits mankind.
