Bihar Board Result 2020: Overall pass percentage records 80.59 | India News


PATNA: Altogether 12,04,030 students cleared the matriculation state board examinations with flying colours, the results of which were announced by the Bihar School Examination Board on Tuesday.
The education minister Krisna Nandan Prasad Verma declared the results at his office, in the presence of additional chief secretary (education) RK Mahajan and Board chairman Anand Kishor. The result has been uploaded on www.resultbseb.online, www.onlinebseb.in and www.biharboardonline.com.
The overall pass percentage in the class X exams this year recorded at 80.59%, which is 0.14% lower than the previous year’s figure of 80.73%.
Himanshu Raj of Janta High School in Rohtas district was declared as the topper of class X board exam by securing 481 out of total 500 marks (96.2%). Durgesh Kumar of SK High School, Samastipur got the second rank with 480 marks, 96 percentage. Shubham Kumar of Sri Harkhen Kumar Jain Gyansthali, Bhojpur bagged third position with 478/500 marks, and secured 95.6%.
Boys outnumber girls in the class X board result. While the number of boys, who cleared the exam was 613485, the girls total was 5,90,545. As many as 7,29,213 boys appeared for the examinations, compared to 7,64,858 girls.
Altogether 4,03,392 students bagged the first division, while 5,24,217 passed with second division and 2,75,402 got third division marks. Results of four students are pending, while 218 candidates were debarred from the exams for using unfair means.
This year the students, who appeared for the board exams, did not require to write their names, roll number, registration number, year of examination and subject code on the answer-sheets as these information were already there in their answer-sheets along with the candidates photos.
Kishor said the BSEB had taken a number of measures to ensure that fair and cheating-free exams by the board and the evaluation process was expedited through various technologies adopted by the Board.
“We introduced a series of technological advancements including the usage of pre-printed barcode and litho code answer copies, speeding up the evaluation process through computerisation. Computer operators were deputed at each evaluation centres for tabulation work. All the computers are attached to the BSEB headquarters in Patna, which automatically receives all information, including marks, related to a student,” the chairman said.
He added: “We have also introduced 10 sets of question papers for each subjects. the changes adopted in question pattern including reduction in higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) questions, 50% objective questions in all papers and more options given to students in questions asked in the exams.”
Altogether 15,29,393 students registered, however, 14,94,071 appeared wrote class X exam from February 17 to February 24 at 1,368 exam centres in Bihar. Last year, the class X results were announced on April 6, however, this time the results got delayed due to nation- wide lockdown owing to Covid- 19 pandemic.
